DEFAULT-KEY does not have an asterisk beside it

Technical Articles ID: SDSKB3

Environment E-Business Server 8.x and 7.x

Problem The DEFAULT-Key in the pgp.cfg file does not have an asterisk (*) beside it.

Cause The DEFAULT-KEY setting in pgp.cfg is set to a keypair other than the last one generated, or added to the keyring set.

Solution This is expected behavior. The default key setting in the pgp.cfg does not control how the keys are displayed in the key list. It is only used when performing an operation that requires the keypair. NOTE: When performing a --key-list, the E-Business Server always shows an asterisk next to the last keypair added or generated on the keyring.
